Eastern Market Main Street would like to welcome Sarah Buffaloe and Eric Hanson to the neighborhood!

This wife and husband duo are the new owners of Eastern Market Pottery – located in the basement of the historic Eastern Market (225 7th St SE, Washington, DC 20003). Established in 1968 (and most recently owned by Chuck Brome), Eastern Market Pottery offers weekly classes, an open studio and a retail showroom featuring stoneware pottery made by potters Ellen Jaffe, Susan Jacobs, Lynn Murphy, and Sarah Buffaloe.

Sarah (an architect) and Eric (a cybersecurity professional) had been involved with the studio for about a decade when they had the opportunity to purchase the business; and on New Year’s Eve 2019 they became the new official owners.

They’ve already been busy giving the studio and retail spaces a makeover; and they are looking to expand the class offerings and add online sales and shipping to the retail space. More information on classes and events can be found at the website https://easternmarketpottery.com/ and you can follow them on Facebook and Instagram.

Eastern Market Pottery is located down the staircase at the Seventh & C Street corner of Eastern Market. Open every Saturday and Sunday from 10 am to 5 pm and at other times on weekdays when the stairwell gate is open.
