Eastern Market is known for its lampposts so each month we shine a light on one of our valued donors to thank them for their support and learn more about why they contribute.

A graduate of Howard University, Sean Pichon chose to stay in Washington, DC where he focused his architectural career on addressing the district’s housing crisis by developing luxury and affordable housing in addition to mixed-use developments. Ultimately, his firm settled into office space directly across from the market. As a business leader and member of our community, he has given his time and financial support to EMMS’ mission since it formed.
Sean witnessed EMMS pivot to play a mission-critical role helping local, small business survive the pandemic and is enjoying watching the organization shift back to its original purpose: helping our neighborhood’s businesses thrive. It does so by helping to coordinate the efforts of other local groups seeking to support our local economy, offering critical programing for business owners and providing grants to help businesses launch. Looking ahead to the coming year, he is pleased to see EMMS’ Design Committee will be working on a variety of projects to further beautify the corridor, including an effort to enhance the tree boxes on 7th Street and efforts to bring public art to our community. Tangible enrichments to his community keep Sean energized and engaged in supporting local nonprofits like EMMS.
