By day, Jason Secrest is a residential real estate agent and Associate Broker with Coldwell Banker on the Hill. By night, he faithfully serves as a member of EMMS’s Board of Directors. When not serving the community or finding amazing homes for his clients, he serves our country in the Army National Guard as an Armor Cavalry Officer at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. A Veteran of long service, Jason has deployed to Iraq, Egypt, Afghanistan, and Covid-19. Who else would Brick-by-Brick turn to with the spring real estate season coming to learn what the spring Capitol Hill real estate market will hold.
“I certainly understand why our neighbors are fearful about the local real estate market on the Hill,” notes Jason. However, Jason argues that our neighborhood is a micro market within the city and the DMV region, and that is highly resilient to outside forces; as he points out, properly-priced houses on the Hill are still selling quickly, and there is still a lot of interest in joining our community. “For all the reasons current residents love Hill living, our neighborhood will continue to be a magnet,” observes Jason. Additionally, he believes our rental market will remain strong. “Current renters are waiting to buy in the hope that interest rates will continue to fall, especially given the uncertainty about public sector employment and the potential for a trade war(s) and an overall recession moving forward.” Overall, he is optimistic for the upcoming real estate season on the Hill, which he lovingly refers to as a “village in a very big area.”
