Introduction:
Eastern Market Main Street (EMMS) welcomes proposals for their Small Business Spotlight Blog Project. Any and all photographers are welcome to apply. Please take the time to thoroughly read and familiarize yourself with the proposal requirements and objectives. All proposals must be received by the submission deadline noted above in order to be considered.
Project Location:
The project will take place in the Capitol Hill neighborhood of SE Washington, DC, specifically with 15-20 small businesses on the EMMS corridor. This includes 7th Street SE from North Carolina to Pennsylvania Avenues SE, and C Street SE and Pennsylvania Avenue SE form 6th Street to 8th Street SE.
Project Objective:
EMMS seeks a talented and engaging photographer to help us create a blog series featuring the small business owners of the EMMS corridor.
Earlier this year, we created a survey asking customers why they chose to shop in and around Eastern Market. 79% said to support small businesses, and over half said they did so to support businesses their friends and family own or work at. Clearly, personal connections are crucial for where and why people choose to shop local.
We hope our Small Business Spotlight Blog will bring these personal connections to a wider audience. The project will include a series of interviews with small business owners about how they got to where they are now and why they're passionate about what they do. The chosen photographer’s job will be to take photos of these small business owners and their shops and to personalize them for a wider audience as we encourage more people to shop local in the Eastern Market area.
Project Scope and Timeline:
The project will consist of 15 to 20 mini photo sessions with small businesses in the project location. These sessions should take about 20 to 30 minutes per business, and will be scheduled over a 2 to 3 day period, to be determined between EMMS staff and the selected photographer. This project will start and be completed this summer, in the months of June, July, and August.
Project Proposal Expectations:
EMMS shall award the contract to the photographer that best accommodates the objectives of the project. In your proposal, be sure to describe how you would approach the project, your availability this summer for scheduling purposes, and include a portfolio of past work that best exemplifies the work you hope to create for this project. Your cost proposal and breakdown should also be included.
